The Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad provides educational lectures and exhibits.
Topics include railroad safety and our railroad heritage
On February 17,2009 retired Locomotive Engineer, Neal Stringer visited with Land O'Lakes Boy Scout Troop 33 as part of the Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad's educational program.
Neal addressed the group for 45 minutes pausing to take questions about the discussion. The scouts wanted to know how locomotives worked and how the braking system on a train stopped a train. The "How long does it take a train to stop," question was discussed and explained. Neal explained how important safety is when crossing railroad tracks and why the damage to vehicles is so great.
Neal is the Rules Examiner / Road Foreman of Engines and runs the certification program for conductors and engineers on the Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad.
